Additional Requirements for Cross Categorical Certification
For those students who are requesting to add cross-categorical certification following completion of their EC program:
- Registration and completion of the cross-categorical 2-credit web-based course (SPED 609 XC) at the current cohort group rate to cover the instructor's reading and advisement.
- Expand the EC portfolio to include original or modified artifacts (assignments), with emphasis upon Standard's 4 and 8, which address the cross-categorical level at a cost of $250. This will cover the reading and advisement by the designated instructor or director. The portfolio will also include final cooperating and supervising teacher evaluations, additions, deletions, and reflections addressing each of the ten standards at the end of the student teaching experience.
- Student teaching for an additional semester at the cohort group rate. The length of student teaching shall be 9-18 weeks on a flexible basis, subject to approval by the field supervisor.
- Reading of the final portfolio and approval by the certification officer at a cost of $50.
- Completion of the Praxis II in Middle Childhood (0146) with a score of 146 or better.
